The Historic District Review Board consists of five members appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees to review all changes in the exterior architectural features of new construction, renovations and structural improvements within the limits of the Village’s Historic District. The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of five members appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees to interpret the Village of Cold Spring Zoning Code and to issue special permits and variances as per New York State Law and Village Code. with workshop meetings on the first and fourth Tuesdays. The board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, the mayor and board appoint members to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Historic District Review Board, Recreation Board and special advisory boards. Elections are held in March for terms that have expired. The Mayor and four Trustees form the main governing body that is the Village Board. These officials are elected to their part-time positions for a two-year term and are responsible for balancing the village budget, enacting local laws and adopting municipal policies.
